How to Change Your Windshield Wipers

Windshield Wipers

Typically, windshield wipers are designed to last six to twelve months, but the rubber blades can wear down sooner if exposed to harsh elements. Snow, wind, ice rain, salt, and extreme temperatures all can cause you to change wipers ahead of schedule. Luckily, learning how to change windshield wipers is easy. If you notice that your windshield wiper blades are no longer keeping your view on the Omaha streets clear, then you’ll want to change wipers. This is especially true if you spot any of the following on your commute to Beatrice:

  • Cracked Rubber
  • Separated Blades
  • Screeching Noise
  • Gaps in Windshield Clearing
  • Scratches to Windshield Glass
  • Loose chunks of the blade.

Now that you know what to look for, you can explore our service tips below to learn how to change your windshield wipers!

How to Change Windshield Wipers

If you prefer to handle routine car care on your own, you can learn how to change your windshield wipers by following these steps:

  1. Adjust your windshield wiper blades so that they are facing upright.
  2. Pull the wiper blades away from your windshield carefully.
  3. Review the instructions on the packaging of the windshield wiper blades to find information on how to remove them.
  4. Throw away the old wiper blades.
  5. Thoroughly clean your windshield to prevent dust, dirt, and other debris from getting on your new wiper blades.
  6. Install the new wiper blades by reversing the instructions listed for steps two and three.
  7. Replace the second blade.
  8. Carefully place your blades back to their regular position, so they’re flush with the windshield.
